Don’t Take Snow For An Answer

Dallas got snow today, a lot in fact.  It was a rare treat for us.  I left work early so I could walk around downtown and take pictures.  Here are some of my favorites.

The skyline of Dallas from a distance.

The view from my office window this morning.

A palm tree covered with snow.  You don’t see that every day.

Shall we go for a walk in the park? . . .

Or perhaps down by the brook?

For some reason, this bench reminds me of a Simon & Garfunkel song.  I just can’t put my finger on it.

Watch your step!

An icy waterfall.

A frosty tree.

A floating forest.

This is Eric.  He works for the W Hotel in Victory Park, one of the most luxurious hotels in Dallas.  Eric used his shovel to help me find my phone after I dropped it in the snow.  Without his help, there would be no pictures today.

A glorious winter stallion.

Statues crouching in the cold, misty afternoon.

Some people here are just fascinated by snow.

A caged sculpture.  Whatever happened to freedom of expression??

Look, snow bulls!

Look how nice he is, he let me get right up close for a picture.

Uh oh, I think I made this one mad.  Time to go.

Hooters Snow Owls.  Not exactly picturesque sculpture, you have to go inside for that.

I feel some Coldplay songs comin on tonight . . .

Weather like this requires the convergence of many forces.

A pristine chapel.  (Like the Sistine Chapel, minus the nudity.)

Is this the Stairway to Heaven?  Or will it lead me to a place where I can warm my feet . . .

The leaves of winter.

The last time it snowed like this in Texas?  204 years ago.  That’s a long time.

I thought this looked kinda cool.

Is that where all the snow is coming from?

melting snow + artistic mood =  shameless fun

That’s all for today.  You guys stay warm out there.

  1. I hardly was able to imagine that we got that much snow here…  It was beautiful but ended up being a bit of a pest when there was nothing left but ice…  I thought I was going to have to skate to work!
